On October 13, 2025, a delegation of 26 faculty members and students from the Department of Marine Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) visited the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, South China University of Technology (SCUT). The exchange centered on core topics including academic development in marine engineering, research collaboration, and joint talent cultivation. This initiative aims to establish a normalized cooperation bridge between the two institutions' naval architecture and ocean engineering disciplines, strengthen international academic resource sharing, and lay a solid foundation for future collaboration in frontier technology development and faculty-student exchanges.

During the symposium, DTU delegation leader Professor Mostafa Amini-Afshar introduced the university's educational philosophy, disciplinary structure, and current development of the Department of Marine Engineering. Professor Zhou Binzhen from SCUT's School of Civil Engineering and Transportation and Associate Professor Guo Xiangfeng from the School of Marine Science and Engineering presented their respective institutions' histories, disciplinary strengths, faculty expertise, research platform development, and talent cultivation systems, fully demonstrating SCUT's comprehensive capabilities in naval architecture, ocean engineering, and related fields while expressing strong commitment to long-term cooperation.
Following the meeting, the visiting delegation conducted an in-depth tour of SCUT's Marine Engineering Laboratory. Faculty members provided comprehensive and detailed explanations and operational demonstrations of various core equipment tailored to the university's marine engineering research needs, addressing professional questions through on-site examples and practical demonstrations. The delegation also toured the Wushan campus, exploring landmark sites including the Sun Yat-sen statue, swimming pool inscription, Baibu stairs, and sundial to gain insights into SCUT's historical and cultural heritage. The visitors expressed high admiration for the campus's cultural atmosphere.

This visit by DTU's Department of Marine Engineering faculty and students not only built a robust academic exchange platform but also created favorable conditions for deeper cooperation in research collaboration and joint talent cultivation. Seizing this opportunity, the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology will continue strengthening connections with international universities, actively expanding international cooperation channels, and continuously enhancing disciplinary international influence and talent cultivation quality.
