Recently, good news has come from the organizing committee of the 4th International College Student Engineering Mechanics Competition (Asia Region), as students from South China University of Technology have once again achieved outstanding results. All seven students from our university who participated in the competition received awards. Among them, Gao Sijia and Cai Yuqi won first prizes in the individual competition as well as the team competition. Wei Jiale and Li Xiangen received first prizes in the individual competition. The team from our university was awarded second prize.

The competition was held in Hohai University (Jiangning Campus) on December 2nd and 3rd, 2023, with nearly 600 students from 65 universities, including Tsinghua University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Northwestern Polytechnical University.

International Engineering Mechanics Contest was jointly initiated by many universities of the Russian Federation in 2005, and has a wide and far-reaching influence in the field of mechanics at home and abroad. This competition is an internationally recognized highly difficult theory competition in mechanics courses. The questions are full of innovation and challenges, requiring profound theoretical mechanics knowledge and solid mathematical foundation.

The School of Civil Engineering and Transportation has always attached importance to the teaching of basic mechanics and laid emphasis on consolidating the mechanical foundation of students, and has organized teams to participate in this mechanical competition for three consecutive times. With the strong support of the Academic Affairs Office and the school, the Department of Engineering Mechanics appointed teachers Yang Yi and Huang Huaiwei to lead the team, and 7 students from the 2022 engineering mechanics innovation class went to Nanjing to participate in the competition. In the competition, the students united and cooperated, fully carried forward the team spirit, paid hard efforts, and obtained excellent results.
