From June 18th to 21st, 2018 World Transport Convention(WTC) organized by the China Science and Technology Association, the Ministry of Transport and the Chinese Academy of Engineering was held at the Beijing National Convention Center; China Association for Science of Technology party secretary Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering He Huawu attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Experts and politicians from the transportation fields of Nigeria, Latvia, Myanmar, South Sudan, Nepal and many other countries, as well as university scientific research institutions, enterprises and institutions transportation science and technology workers attended the opening ceremony.

During the convention, one teacher of the SCUT delegation served as the chairman of the discipline, and seven teachers served as the chairman of the professional technical committee of the conference. Four teachers and students presented the new technology of road and bridge, green transportation technology, material research and industrialization in the form of special reports. In this WTC2018 meeting, the teachers and students in the conference have a deeper understanding of the academic frontier dynamics in a good academic atmosphere, which has played a very good role in promoting their own development. At the same time, the outstanding performance of teachers and students of South China University of Technology in this convention further enhanced the international influence of our school in the field of transportation.
It is reported that with the theme of“Better Transport, Better World”, WTC 2018 is composed of six major parts: opening ceremony & keynote presentations, “the Belt and Road” International Traffic Cooperation Summit Forum, Academic Forum, Transportation Technology Expo (infrastructure exhibition area and travel service exhibition area), 2018 World University Bridge Design Competition, WTC think tank product release and special events. This is a great event for transportation. It is also a grand event for science and technology. The 36 brand forums, 150 communication units, 150 academic report columns and 1,300 academic reports elaborated by the conference attracted more than 7,500 delegates from 53 countries. In addition, more than 30,000 people visited the Transportation Technology Expo.
