Students of 2013 civil excellent class went to UIUC for summer exchange

On July 23th, 2016, 27 students of civil engineering arrived at University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign (UIUC), and started a 21-day summer exchange.

University of Illinois at Urbana (UIUC) founded in 1867, located in secluded Illinois Twin Cities Urbana – Champaign. And it is a famous research university in the world. UIUC, known as "public ivy", is a founding member of the US " Big Ten Conference and the member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). UIUC, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Michigan are said " Big Three of the American public universities ". There are many remarkable subjects in UIUC, especially the ranking of civil engineering major is No. 2.

Learning in Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory

Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory is the largest national civil engineering test center. In the monitoring, the students attended the earthquake engineering course by Professor Ahmed Elbanna, and in the afternoon, the students attended the advanced steel structure theory course by Professor James M. LaFave and Professor Larry A. Fahnestock. The students visited the civil engineering laboratory, and they were given a brief introduction by Professor Billie F. Spencer about multidirectional direction loading actuators in the lab and advanced structural test theory.

The students also visited Chicago, Springfield and St. Louis. They experienced the American culture, enriched their knowledge and broadened their horizons.
