On the morning of January 15, the College of Civil Engineering and Transportation Forum (6) belong to the South China University of Technology Outstanding Young Scholars at home and abroad forum, was held on the Traffic Building Academic Lecture Hall 604. Dr Wu Xing, assistant professor of the Texas Lamar University, shared his research results about traffic network travel behavior modeling, and electric energy consumption analysis in the U.S. with the college teachers and students.

The Lecture

Wu Xing made a presentation entitled "Plug-in Hybrid Operating Costs and Effectiveness Coefficient based on GPS Traffic Data". The report was based on 415 private cars driving record GPS data collected by the government in Seattle. In the conditions of taking into account different gasoline prices and charge pile coverage, the plug-in electric mixing vehicle of different battery capacity were analysed and calculated in different conversion years. This study provides a strong theoretical support for the Seattle in the decision-making of the development of plug-in cars.
After the lecture, the teachers and students had a full communication on the interested issues with the speaker. Wu Xing also visited the transportation science laboratory and communicated further academic research with some academic team.
