Transportation Engineering primarily aims to cultivate professionals specializing in traffic control and management, highway engineering, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic information engineering, transportation big data engineering, connected and automated vehicle (CAV) systems, transportation economics and management, transportation planning and design, modern logistics technology, pavement engineering structures, highway construction materials, highway design theory, computer-aided highway design, and preventive maintenance and rehabilitation technologies for highways.
The Transportation Engineering discipline at SCET is highly influential in China and has achieved significant accomplishments in areas such as automatic electric toll collection (ETC), traffic monitoring systems, transportation big data, connected and automated vehicle systems, transportation planning and management, logistics engineering, intelligent transportation systems, pavement engineering, foundation engineering, highway design theory and methodologies, computer-aided engineering and highway design, highway construction materials, preventive maintenance and rehabilitation of highways, modern bridge health monitoring technologies, underground engineering, and transportation information technology.

The Transportation Engineering program aims to cultivate professionals capable of working in intelligent transportation systems, transportation system planning and management, traffic big data management and analysis, design and integration of traffic electrical and mechanical engineering systems, traffic engineering facility design, as well as the investigation, design, construction, maintenance, management, and research of road engineering projects. Graduates are expected to master fundamental theories and methods of engineering design and construction, as well as emerging technologies, new materials, advanced engineering techniques, and modern methods for engineering design, testing, analysis, application, and maintenance. In addition, they should possess solid knowledge of electronics, information and control technologies, communication engineering, modern engineering planning and management, operational environment and protection, traffic safety technologies, and computer applications.
