In order to improve the management of and service for students studying abroad, SCUT held the 2018 Pre-Departure Training on Safe Overseas Study at the University Town Campus on May 17. This training was sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges under the Ministry of Education, and jointly sponsored by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and South China University of Technology.

Vice President Prof. Zhu Min, representatives from the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, the Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Guangdong Department of Education, and Guangzhou Service Center for Overseas Talents attended this pre-departure training. The training was joined by nearly 200 self-funded and government-sponsored teachers and students who are preparing to study abroad, coming from institutions including SCUT, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and other universities.
