The SCUT athletes and coaches made great contributions to the 14th National Games
time: 2021-10-08

    The 14th National Games concluded in Xi'an on September 27. Over 20 SCUT student athletes participated in 9 sports, including track and field, gymnastics, swimming, badminton and soccer. They went all out to show the glory of youth and the hard-working SCUT style, winning 3 golds, 5 silvers and 10 bronzes. In addition, four faculty members played an important part in the judge and support teams.

    Our studetn Liang Xiaojing, who teamed up with the players from the national team, won the women's 4×100m relay final in 42.72 seconds, with absolute predominance in spite of the bad weather, adding a gold to the Guangdong team.

    In addition, Liang Xiaojing collected two bronze medals in the women's 100m and 200m finals, and finished fourth in the women's 4X400m relay. 

    In the co-ed 4 x 400m and women's 4 x 400m races, our student Liang Nuo made a strong appearance. She successfully picked up bronze in the co-ed mixed race and won the fourth place in the women's relay race. 

    Our students Luo Wenyi and Zhang Ruixuan, as the relay team members of Guangdong team, combined with Mo Youxue and Chen Guanfeng, ran 39:14 in 4×100m, the first in the group and the second overall to advance to the final, and achieved the fourth place in the final. The two students fought together side by side and also managed to win silver in the 4×200m race. In addition, Zhang Ruixuan took eighth place in the men's 200m race. 

 

    In the gymnastics competition, Liu Tingting, together with Luo Rui, Ou Yushan, Sun Xinyi, Wu Ran and Bi Qingqing, formed the Guangdong team and successfully defended their title with 217.129 points, winning the gold medal in the women's gymnastics team, topping the standings by more than 4 points! 

    In the swimming events of the National Games, Yu He Xin, won the first place in the men's 50m self swimming, and won the silver in the men's 4X100 self swimming relay and the bronze in the men's 4X100 mixed relay. In the men's 50m freestyle final, he won the title with a time of 21:68 and surpassed his own national record of 21:79 set in 2020.

    Xu Zhejia took third place in the men's 4x100m medley relay and won a bronze medal in the men's and women's 4x100m medley relay.  

    Cheng Xiaohong won the third place in the women's 4X200m medley relay and also achieved the fourth place in the women's 4X180m medley relay.

     In the badminton event, Feng Xueying dared to fight and played with momentum, and successfully won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles competition. In the women's badminton team competition, Chen Lu, Feng Xueying, Luo Xuemin and Li Yijing teamed up and finally won the fifth place in the women's team despite the pressure.  

    In addition, in the golf event, Ren Yue won the second place in the women's individual and the third place in the women's team; Zhao Zhimeng won the second place in the women’s team; Liang Enqi won the sixth place in the men’s team.

    In soccer, Hou Yu won the third place in the U18 group and Zhang Yujie won the fourth place in U20 group; in tennis, Guo Meiqi won the fifth place in women's doubles; in women's basketball, Wu Jiayi won the eighth place in youth group 3x3; in artistic gymnastics, Zhang Yu won the eighth place in group all-around.

    Dr. Liu Dongxiao, as an international-level rowing judge, was appointed by China Rowing and Canoeing Association to participate in the 14th National Games as a finish referee, and won the Sportsmanship Award for technical officials of rowing events in the Games.

    Huang Weihao, as a national judge of track and field, provided technical support for the event. Meanwhile, our faculty Li Sen and Ma Xiaojun also participated in the judge team.

    On and off the field, the SCUT people always put in their best efforts, leaving their sweat and footsteps on the arena, winning glory for the country with excellent performance and making great contributions to sports power of the country.
