The CPC Guangdong Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Government this week announced the 2017 Guangdong Science and Technology Awards (GDSTA). SMAE’s professor Qu Jinping was granted the Prize for Outstanding Contribution, while professor Tang Yong was granted the First Prize.

The awarding ceremony took place at Guangzhou Zhudao Hotel on Monday, announcing Qu Jinping as one of the only two receivers of this year’s Prize for Outstanding Contribution. This is the third year in a row that faculty members of SCUT have received the same prize, which is recognized as Guangdong province’s highest individual honor in science and technology.

SCUT also took 24 out of 244 items of this year’s GDSTA. These included five First Prizes, nine Second Prizes, and ten Third Prizes, putting SCUT at the top among all institutions of higher learning in the province.
