time: 2016-11-15

On October 26, approved by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), 41 SCUT staff members were selected into the Oversea Training Program for Young Backbone Teachers, setting the best record in the university’s history.

The Project is carried out by the CSC and cooperative institutions, aiming to provide opportunities for Chinese teachers showing great potential to study at high-level universities or research institutions abroad.

In recent years, by reforming the personnel system, SCUT has introduced and cultivated a great number of outstanding international talents. Except for the Young Backbone Teachers Project, the number of faculty members that were dispatched by the country or the university to study abroad has been increasing year by year.

In 2016, the number of SCUT teachers sent abroad is expected to reach 146, with an increase of 29.2% compared to 2015.

At present, the proportion of SCUT teachers who have studied abroad for 3 months or more is up to 38.3%, which shows a 7.8% growth compared to 2010. It has greatly accelerated the internationalization of teaching staff and effectively promoted SCUT’s aim of building a world-class university.
