On October 9, a delegation led by Guangzhou Deputy Mayor Wang Dong was received by SCUT President Wang Yingjun at Shaw Building of Humanities.

The delegation also included Assistant Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal Government Zhang Jianfa and officials in charge of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Bureau of Education.

During the meeting, President Wang Yingjun praised that innovation is a fine tradition inherited by SCUT. Over the years, SCUT has carried out courageous explorations on patterns of talent cultivation and personnel system, which produced fruitful results in bringing high caliber personnel into the faculty.

Meanwhile, the university has achieved extraordinary accomplishments in technology transformations. It will, as President Wang said, continue to work on supporting the city and Guangdong province’s strategy of innovation-driven development.

Deputy Mayor Wang Dong expressed the view that SCUT is closely connected to the region’s development. The two sides will further their cooperation by tapping their respective advantages.

People attended the meeting also included SCUT Vice President Yu Qijun, Vice President Zhang Xichun, and University Party Standing Committee Member Tao Shaoqing.
