Audi Confucius Institute in preparation for opening in Germany

The Audi Confucius Institute, which is a cooperative program set up by SCUT, Audi AG, the municipal government of Ingolstadt and Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI), has begun its preliminary operation in the THI campus.

In preparation for the official opening that is expected to take place in a short future, and for the planning of the development of the Confucius Institute, a delegation of SCUT led by Vice President Dang Zhi visited THI on October 6, as the local people were celebrating the 2nd Bavarian China Day on the same day.

According to Ingolstadt local media, after the establishment of the institute was officially sealed in the June contract, now the two directors from the two universities, SCUT Professor Wang Yujing and THI Professor Peter Augsdörfer, as well as the managing director Chen Jing, have taken offices.

Except for Chinese language courses, courses for Chinese cultural studies and various cultural events are now gradually integrated into the multi-national program. In addition, a library based at THI will be available from the institute’s opening, providing numbers of publication materials on China and the Chinese language and culture to the local people.

On the second day of the visiting, the SCUT delegates visited the Chinese Consulate General in München, where they had a meeting with Educational Consul Huang Chongling.

After thorough discussions on the details of the Confucius Institute’s planning and how to exhibit its unique features, their conversation also focused on how to carry out communications with other Confucius Institutes in the München Consular District.
