Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, was founded in 1966. The department is currently home to 36 academics, 16 administrative and technical support staff, 500 undergraduate students and over 200 graduate students. It is one of the most active research and innovation mechanical engineering departments in Canada.

The department is dedicated to excellence in both its research and educational endeavors. Innovative research programs are well established in Advanced Manufacturing and Design; Applied Mechanics; Biomechanics; Energy, Environment, Thermo-Fluids; Materials; Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems; Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics and Controls.
