Objectives
Students under this program are expected to grasp a solid foundation of atutomobile engineering theory and systematic professional knowledge of the discipline; to be well-informed with modern design theory, technology and method, modern electronic technology and necessary practical skills of vehicles; be able to employ modern science and technology to solve technological problems in the manufacturing process; to be proficient in one foreign language; to be capable to undertake teaching, scientific researches and other professional technological work independently.

Cultivation Mode
Advisory system is applied in this program. Students should set out a working program with the instruction of their supervisors in the first two weeks after registration. Students are supposed to participate in the stage assessment according to Master Degree Candidate Medium-Term Screening Method of South China University of Technology and complete the required social practices the third semester. Regular seminar reports are also required.
Dissertation
Students should draw up a working plan for the theses between the 11th and the 20th weeks in the third semester; start writing Literature Review (no less than 5000 words) and thesis proposals. More than 50 pieces of document have to be covered in the literature review, among which those in English should amount to no less than 10 pieces. Thesis proposals are expected to be finished in the third semester. Before applying for the thesis defense, students are required to have published one research paper in core academic journals with South China University of Technology signed as the first unit, the student signed as the first author or the supervisor signed as the first author whereas the student the second, or have one authorized patent. On the completion of theses, thesis defense will be arranged according to Rules for the Implementation of Graduation Degrees of South China University of Technology and Regulations of the Applications for Thesis Defense of South China University of Technology Apart from the above related regulations of degree thesis made by SCUT, the thesis is supposed to meet the school requirements in terms of its academic nature, systematic feature, innovativeness and the art of writing.
