On the afternoon of September 8th, the sixth College Distinguished Teacher awards ceremony was held in Beijing, CPC Central Committee, State Councilor Liu Yandong attended the ceremony. Minister of Education Yuan Guiren chaired the meeting, 350 representatives of the central state organs and some personnel from the department of the army and the education system also attended the meeting. Professor Huang Ping of the South China University of Technology School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, who is the winner of the sixth Distinguished Teacher of colleges and universities attended the awards ceremony.
       It is reported that all the Sixth College Distinguished Teacher award-winning teachers are of 100 people from 93 colleges and universities nationwide, including 80 general undergraduate education teachers, and 20 teachers from the general higher vocational education.  Award in recognition of this work has been carried out since 2003, which has been held for six sessions so far. This work, focusing on the establishment of the university teachers and their teaching, on the quality-oriented, which promoting a large number of professors to the podium to teach the undergraduate the basic and the specialized courses to enable more students to be available to the famous teacher's words and deeds. It has highlighted the importance of university teaching, influenced and led teachers to focus on personnel training which has played an important role in improving education quality.
       The South China University of Technology has paid great attention to the developing of the teachers in recent years, and vigorously promoted the reform of undergraduate education and teaching, increasing the force of the teacher training project. Every year in the Distinguished Teacher Award winning there is a teacher from the South China University of Technology in the last three years. Up to now, there are 4 national education teachers in the South China University of Technology.
