申请指南
1.Why apply to SCUT?
South China University of Technology (SCUT) is one of China's leading universities directly under the Ministry of Education, and one of the national 211 and 985 project universities，which qualifies it as a prestigious and highly sought-after institution in China.

2.How to apply?
Applicants are required to log into http://www.scut.edu.cn/apply, enter your personal information and upload scanned copies of all the application materials.

登录网上报名系统：http://www.scut.edu.cn/apply，填写个人信息，并上传所有申请材料的原件扫描件。
3.Do I need to pay application fee?
Yes. Applicants are required to pay the application fee online if they apply for self-sponsored programs. Application fee is 450 RMB and it is not refundable. Application can only be proceeded after application fee is paid.
Note: Application fee is free for applicants who apply for Chinese Government Scholarship and International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.
3.需支付申请费吗？
自费项目申请人需在线支付450元申请费。申请费一经缴纳，不予退回。申请费支付成功后，申请材料才会被审核。
注意：申请中国政府奖学金和国际中文教师奖学金免交申请费。
4. When is the deadline for application?
1)For Chinese Language and International Foundation programs, application deadline is June 30 (Fall Semester) and December 31 (Spring Semester) each year.
2)For postgraduate programs, application deadline is June 15 each year.
3)For undergraduate programs, application deadline is June 30 each year.
4)For Chinese Government Scholarship, application deadline is normally March 31 each year.
5)For International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, deadline is May 15 (Fall Semester) and October 31(Spring Semester) each year.
Note：The deadline is subject to the latest notice of the year. We recommend that applicants submit their applications as early as possible to allow sufficient time to complete the application procedure and receive the offer , and to also leave enough time to apply for a visa.
4.申请截止时间
1)汉语项目和国际预科项目：每年6月30日（秋季学期），每年12月31日（春季学期）。
2)研究生项目：每年6月15日。
3)本科生项目：每年6月30日。
4)中国政府奖学金项目：每年3月底。
5)国际中文教师奖学金项目：每年5月15日（秋季学期），每年10月31日（春季学期）。
注意：申请截止时间以当年最新通知为准。建议申请人早申请，以便有充足的时间完成申请和录取手续，及办理签证。
5.What can I do if I have difficulties in uploading my documents on the application system?
Please note that the size of each uploaded file cannot exceed 2MB. You can upload the complete file in parts or pages.Please read carefully the requirements of uploading on the system and if you still have any further questions, then contact Admissions Office by sending email to sieinfo@scut.edu.cn .
5.如不能成功上传文件到网申系统，该怎么做？
每个上传文件的大小不能超过2MB，可以将完整的文件拆分，分页上传，仍无法上传的，请邮件联系sieinfo@scut.edu.cn 解决问题。
6.Can I change application information after I submitted online application?
If you want to make changes to your application such as change program, upload documents,etc, then please contact Admissions Office by sending email to sieinfo@scut.edu.cn .
6.网上申请提交之后，能否修改已提交的信息？
如需修改申请信息，例如：修改申请专业，添加证明材料等，请先发邮件sieinfo@scut.edu.cn 联系，待申请被退回再修改。
7.Can I submit an application for degree programs in Chinese medium before I attend an HSK exam?
No. Degree programs in Chinese medium require applicants to submit relevant HSK certificate. Applicants who do not obtain HSK certificate can apply for Chinese Language Program at SCUT and attend HSK exam before re-applying degree programs. Timetable for the exam can be found on www.chinesetest.cn. We always suggest applicants to make preparations and obtain HSK certificate as early as possible.
7.没有HSK汉语水平证书，能否申请中文授课的学历项目？
不可以。HSK成绩未达到入学要求者，可先申请我校汉语课程，获得相应的汉语水平等级证书后方可申请专业学习。HSK考试时间可在www.chinesetest.cn 上进行查阅。我们建议申请者提前做好申请准备并尽早参加HSK考试。
8.Can I apply by using the previous old application?
No. If you submitted an application before and now want to apply again , you will need to start a new online application. It is not possible to transfer your old application to to the new one.
8.旧的申请记录是否有效？
无效。如果之前申请过但没有正常入学的，下一次需要重新提交网上申请并支付申请费。
9.When will I receive my application result?
After your online application is submitted and application fee is paid successfully, Admissions Office will start to proceed your application. Normally we will release result in 2 weeks after procedure is finished. Applications for certain programs will take more time to be reviewed. If we require any further information or supporting documents in order to process your application, we will contact you by email. Please check the application system regularly for the progress and pay attention to the Email notifications.
9.多长时间会收到申请结果？
自费申请提交并支付报名费后，，可在15-20个工作日内进入系统查看申请结果（部分专业和奖学金项目除外）。如需补充材料，会收到邮件通知。请定期登录申请系统查看申请进度，并留意邮箱通知。
10.When do the classes start normally?
Degree programs begin in September. Chinese language programs and International Foundation programs open in both semesters (March intake and September intake). Details are subject to the admission letter.

研究生申请
1.I'm applying for a master/PhD program. How can I find a supervisor and get an acceptance letter?
Applicants are required to submit acceptance letter signed by SCUT supervisor when they apply. We strongly recommend that you make contact with supervisor by email and get the letter signed before submitting a formal application. You can browse staff profiles on the School’s website and identify academic staff with research interests similar to your own . (1)Applicants should prepare the following digital materials, including highest diploma or pre-graduate certificate, transcripts, proposal of research, language certificate, research achievement, personal statement and resume. Then make an appointment with supervisor for interview.
(2)Get “Supervisor Pre-Acceptance Letter” ready, contact the supervisor to sign it if supervisor agrees to accept you.
Supervisor will reply the applicants who pass the assessment and send the acceptance letter to applicants.
1.要申请研究生，如何找导师并获取《导师预同意接收函》？

2.Is there a word limit for the personal statement/ study plan/ research plan?
A personal statement/ study plan/ research plan should be no less than 1000 words. It can be written in English or in Chinese.
2.个人陈述/学习计划/研究计划是否有字数要求？
个人陈述/学习计划/研究计划应不少于1000字。中英文均可。
3.How to write a study plan or research proposal?
A study plan or research proposal states in details what you are going to do during your postgraduate study in China. It must include information relevant to the major you want to study or the area of your research interest. It is of vital importance for your future study. Therefore please make sure your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible.
3.学习计划或研究计划要怎么写？
学习计划或研究计划要详细陈述你打算在中国读研期间做些什么。它必须包括你想就读专业或感兴趣的研究领域等相关信息。这些对于申请者的研究生学习较为重要，因此请确认你的学习计划或研究计划尽量详尽地涵括这些内容。

1.I want to apply for scholarships. What scholarships are available? Can I have scholarships for English medium programs?

(1)Chinese government scholarship: funding for masters and PH.D programs, applicants can apply online in our system; For applicants applying for undergraduate, they need to inquire with the Chinese embassy or consulate in the local area and submit their application.

3.How to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship for undergraduate programs?
The undergraduate program funded by the Chinese government scholarship needs to be applied through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your local area. The application process is as follows:
(1) Applicants should submit applications to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their local area. Meanwhile, students need to submit online applications on our school's application system (www.scut.edu.cn/apply) and pass the university's review to obtain a pre-admission letter;
(2) After the Chinese Embassy or Consulate has screened and selected the list, it will be submitted to the China Scholarship Council for review.

3.如何申请中国政府奖学金资助的本科项目？
中国政府奖学金本科项目需要从中国驻当地大使馆报名。申请流程如下：
申请人向中国驻当地大使馆（使领馆）提交申请；同时，学生需在我校报名系统www.scut.edu.cn/apply提交网上申请，通过大学审核者将获得预录取通知书；
中国驻当地大使馆（使领馆）审核筛选后，将名单报送中国国家留学基金管理委员会进行评审。

2.How can I pay my fees?
Tuition fee and accommodation fee should be paid online before registration, or you can also complete payment after arrival during registration. Students will receive detailed guidance of payment by email before registration.
Please note that for students who withdraw from the program, Tuition and accommodation fees will be refunded in accordance with relevant school regulations. If you have any questions, please consult the Academic Affairs Office and International Student Management Office.
2.我该如何支付相关费用？
关于学费和住宿费，请在到校前完成线上支付，你也可以选择在注册报到期间到校完成支付，相关的支付指引会在开学前通过邮件形式发送给学生。
请注意，中途退学者，学费及住宿费按照学校相关规定办理退费，如有疑问请及时咨询相关部门（教务办公室/留学生管理办公室）。
3.Should I buy insurance?
Yes. It is compulsory for international students to purchase insurance. The insurance fee is 400 RMB for one semester and 800 RMB for one year. If you have joined in other similar insurance plan in your home country or in China, please show the related documents to staff when register. Students who are awarded Chinese Government Scholarship are required to buy insurance themselves first and receive the money back later along with living allowance.
3.我应该购买保险吗？
需要购买。在华留学生有义务购买保险。保险费用是每学期400人民币或每年800元人民币。如果你在本国或中国已经购买过类似保险，请在报到注册时向工作人员出示提交相关文件。中国政府奖学金生需先自行垫付保险费用，该费用后续会和生活费一起发放给学生。
4.When and how do I apply for on-campus accommodation?
On-campus: The number of on-campus accommodation is limited and the rule of accommodation reservation service is: First come, first served. Students will receive detailed guidance of accommodation reservation by email after admission. Please do remember to check email carefully and follow instruction and make reservation as early as possible.
Off-campus: Private rented accommodation can also be a good alternative. Please note that international students must register at local police station within 24 hours after moving into off-campus housing. Student Affairs Office offers a range of support to those students who live off-campus. You can reach them via +86 (0)20 81182586 or +86 (0)20 81182576.
4.我该如何申请校内宿舍？
校内：宿舍数量有限，我们采取“先到先得”的原则分配宿舍。学生被录取之后，我们会通过邮件向学生发送宿舍申请的指引，请认真查收邮件并根据指引尽早提交申请。

6.How much is the living expenses of studying in Guangzhou?
The estimated annual living expense for a single student residing in Guangzhou is about RMB 20,000 to RMB 30,000. This budget should encompass various essentials such as sustenance, attire, study materials, and incidental travel expenses, in addition to tuition and accommodation fees.
6.在广州学习的生活开支是多少？
除了学费和住宿费外，我们预估一个学生在广州的生活开支约20000-30000元/年。该费用一般包括饮食、交通、通讯等。
ABOUT STUDY VISAS
关于来华学习签证
1.What visa do I need?
X1 visa: International students who study in China for a long period (more than 180 days) must enter with an X1 visa. International students with an X1 visa must apply for a residence permit within 30 days of entry. We will provide an electronic JW202 form (Confirmation Form for Study China).
X2 visa: International students studying in China for a short period (less than 180 days) must enter with an X2 visa.We will provide an electronic DQ form (Information Form for Foreign Students' Short-term Visit).
*International students studying in China must hold a regular passport with X1 or X2 visa to enter. If international students hold other types of visas, they will not be able to study on campus and will be responsible for any consequences.

X1字签证：长期学习（在华学习时间180天以上）的国际学生须持X1字签证入境，持X1字签证入境的国际学生，须在入境后30日内办理学习类居留许可。学校提供电子JW202表（《外国留学人员来华确认表》）。
X2字签证：短期学习（在华学习时间180天以下）的国际学生可持X2字签证入境。学校将提供电子DQ表（《短期来华留学生信息表》。
*国际学生来华学习须持普通护照及学习（X1字或X2字）签证入境。若国际学生持其他类型签证，则无法正常在校学习，后果自负。
2.When will I receive my JW202/DQ form?
Please note that we aim to process your JW202/DQ form as quickly as possible and you will receive email when your JW202/DQ form is ready. After you receive the email you shall download the digital JW202/DQ form by yourself. Only when the digital JW202/DQ form is ready, we will issue you the official admission letter. At the same time, you can contact and consult the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your home country to follow the updated instruction about applying for study visa.
*Applying for JW202/DQ needs at least 10 working days.
How to download the JW202/DQ form:
1)Please visit http://www.studyinchina.edu.cn and enter your personal information to download.
2)Please login the application system of SCUT https://scut.17gz.org/ and download from the “Admission letter” portal.
2.如何获取JW202/DQ表？
我们会尽快帮你办理JW202/DQ表，一旦办理完成，你会收到电子表格下载通知的邮件。学生需要自行下载电子版的JW202/DQ表。只有在JW202/DQ表办理完成之后，我们才会发放正式的录取通知书。同时，你也可以联系中国驻当地大使馆咨询最新的学习签证申请流程。
*办理JW202/DQ表需要至少10个工作日。

1)你可以前往留学中国网“签证助手”栏目下载JW202/DQ电子证照，链接：http://www.studyinchina.edu.cn。

4.If I can’t get my visa in time before the start of registration period, can I register later?
Admission letter shows the deadline of registration. You can only defer the arrival with the Admissions Office’s permission as you may have missed too much lessons. If there is any special circumstances that make you late for registration, please contact Admissions Office ASAP by sending Email to sieinfo@scut.edu.cn and explain the reasons of late arrival.
4.如果我不能赶在注册报到前办好签证入境，请问我可以延迟注册报到吗？
录取通知书上明确写明了注册报到的期限，为避免耽误太多课程，只有得到招生办公室允许的情况下，学生才能延迟报到。如有特殊情况需要延迟注册报到，请及时联系招生办公室，并发送邮件至sieinfo@scut.edu.cn ，说明情况并申请延迟注册报到。
