To strengthen the international academic cooperation, Prof. Jean-Pierre CORRIOU, a well-known professor of the University of Lorraine, France, visited our school from Nov. 6th, 2023 to Dec. 16th, 2023 by the invitation of Prof. Wenhao Shen.
During his visit, Prof. CORRIOU carried out extensive and in-depth academic communication with the teachers and students of our school, in the forms of academic lectures and postgraduate subject guidance.
On behalf of the school, the Dean, Prof. Xuehui Li, expressed a warm welcome and sincere thanks to Prof. Corriou, and presented a set of stamps, which are to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of South China University of Technology.
Prof. Corriou's academic exchange work mainly focused on the modeling and application of chemical processes, systematically taught a series of main modeling techniques and methods of chemical processes. He conducted in-depth discussions on the specific academic research topics with the teachers and students of our school, which received positive responses.

About the University of Lorraine and Professor Jean-Pierre Corriou:
Founded in 1572, the University of Lorraine is one of the famous public comprehensive universities in France, which was formed in 2012 by the merger of three public comprehensive universities and an engineering school in Lorraine. The university has a teachers and researchers in total of 4,000, and a total of 62,000 students, 10% of whom pursue engineering degrees.
Jean-Pierre CORRIOU is now emeritus professor at National School of Chemical Industries, University of Lorraine, France. He graduated in 1973 from the Ecole Centrale de Paris, the 2nd best school of engineers in France. He performed his research in interdisciplinary domains, most of them are related to chemical engineering and process engineering. His research focuses on extensive modelling of various processes mainly involved chemical engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, numerical simulation, optimization, process control. He is the author of more than 140 scientific articles, two English books. He was the supervisor of 32 doctorate students, including 4 Chinese doctorate students. After his retirement, Jean-Pierre CORRIOU was the director of simulation in a startup company during two years.
