In order to deeper the international cooperation in student cultivation between our school and the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia (UBC-FF), at the invitation of Vice Dean Li Bo, Ms. Joris Jun and Dr. Adam Wu, Assistants of the Dean's Office of UBC-FF, visited our school on December 6th.
In the morning, Ms. Joris Jun and Dr. Adam Wu discussed cooperation matters such as mutual credit recognition, student joint cultivation and short-term exchange with Prof. Li Bo and the Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Prof. Yu Hao. Followed in the afternoon, Ms. Joris Jun gave a presentation about UBC's collaborative projects to undergraduate and graduate students from different schools of SCUT. Ms. Jun first systematically introduced the majors, curriculums, student cultivations and student employment direction of UBC-FF. Afterwards, she detailed introduced 2+2/3+2 student co-cultivation programs as well as various short-term exchanges, including the requirements and procedures of the application. At the same time, she shared her studying, working and living experiences in UBC. She also introduced the role and platform of UBC in students' daily study and life, scientific research, extracurricular activities, paid internship and career development.
During the interactive session, the students asked Ms. Jun for advice on how to apply for UBC study programs, potential employment destinations and treatments, living conditions, expenses and other issues related to UBC. For students' general interest about how to apply for studying in UBC, the requirements of students' grades and English level, Ms. Joris Jun explained patiently, which aroused the enthusiasm of the students and the atmosphere was warm.
The visiting strengthened the cooperation between our school and world-renowned universities in student training, which improved students' understanding and cognition of world-renowned universities, and opened up new directions and ideas for students to study in foreign universities during the undergraduate and graduate stages.
