The 3rd International Symposium on nanocellulosic materials was successfully held on November 20-21, 2021. It was organized by China Technical Association of Paper Industry (CTAPI) and the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering (SKLPPE) at South China University of Technology, and co-organized by China Pulp and Paper Research Institute Co., Ltd., National Center for Nanoscience and Technology and Guangdong Technical Association of Paper Industry. The conference was held in the Online + Offline mode. The offline main venue was located in South China University of Technology. There are 363 delegates attended the meeting from 9 countries.
Professor Fu Shiyu, State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, served as the executive chairman of the conference. Professor Zhu Min, vice president of South China University of Technology, Dr. Cao Zhenlei, President of CTAPI, and Professor Jiang Xingyu, the director of Nanocellulose and Materials Committee of CTAPI, delivered welcoming speeches and expressed their most sincere thanks to experts and scholars at home and abroad, respectively.
There were 9 Keynote speakers, 39 invitation reports, 28 oral reports and 41 Poster presentations during this conference. Professor Yu Shuhong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Science, gave a keynote report on the conference of bio based sustainable structural materials. Professor Hu liangbing of the University of Maryland, Professor Orlando Rojas of the University of British Columbia, Canada, Professor Akira Isogai of the University of Tokyo, Japan, Professor Thomas Rosenau of BOKU, Austria, Professor Lars Berglund of KTH, Sweden, Professor Zhu Hongli of Northeastern University, Professor Wu Min, Institute of Physical and Chemical Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Wang Xiaohui, vice director of the SKLPPE, and other well-known experts and scholars showed innovative achievements in the fields of preparation, determination, modification and application of new nanocellulose materials for participants to exchange and learn.
The International Conference on nanocellulose materials provides an opportunity for scientific and technological workers in the paper industry and related fields to learn advanced experience at home and abroad and exchange with each other. The conference strengthened the exchanges between the SKLPPE and universities, research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad, deepened the cooperation between scientific and technological workers and international peers, and promoted the industrialization of scientific research achievements of nanocellulose.
