讲座内容:
Semiconductor infrared technology has attracted significant attention in recent years due to their wide applications in various industry sectors including both defense and commercial ones. Our group at the University of Western Australia (UWA) is one of the only two university-based research groups in the world focusing on high performance HgCdTe infrared sensor technology, and hosts the Western Australian Node of Australian National Fabrication Facility for researching and developing various advanced infrared technologies. In this presentation, I will first briefly introduce our overall research, then focus on our state-of-the-art HgCdTe infrared sensor technology and at the last discuss the nanoscale infrared sensors for practical applications. Specifically, I will introduce our status and future directions at UWA in developing advanced HgCdTe infrared sensors for next generation infrared applications such as alternative substrates, curved focal plane array, polarization-selective sensors and adaptive focal plane array. I will also introduce some of our recent effort on exploring nanostructure-based infrared sensors. Infrared sensor applications of these nanostructure-based single layer and heterostructures will be discussed, including their passive imaging and cavity-enhanced polarization selection. I will also discuss the future development of nanostructure-based infrared sensors from the perspective of practical industry applications.
