报告摘要:
Flow past confined circular cylinders positioned between two parallel walls is common in engineering applications. Although the effects of confinement (or blockage) on the flow behaviour and hydrodynamics of circular cylinders have been reported previously, there exists a clear knowledge gap in terms of the hydrodynamic properties of confined cylinders (i.e., drag, lift and Strouhal number). Further, the behaviours of separated shear layers, wake dynamics, and lock-on of confined cylinders at relatively high blockage ratios are not well understood. In this presentation I will provide an overview of our recent numerical (Direct Numerical Simulation and Large Eddy Simulation) and experimental (Particle Image Velocimetry) work on confined circular cylinders over a wide range of blockage ratios and Reynolds numbers.
