Deepening Collaboration: Delegation from KU Leuven in Belgium, Visits SCUT
On November 7th, a delegation from KU Leuven Group T Campus, Belgium, led by Campus Chairman Wim Dewulf, visited South China University of Technology (SCUT). Tao Shaojing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SCUT Committee, welcomed the guests at the Guangzhou International Campus (GZIC). Directors from the International Office and Office of Global Affairs, GZIC, and Deans or relevant representatives from the Schools of GZIC attended the meeting.
Meeting
During the meeting, Tao Shaojing welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the recent developments and achievements of SCUT and GZIC. She expressed appreciation for the fruitful collaboration between SCUT and KU Leuven, including the signing of a university-level memorandum of understanding and an undergraduate joint training program agreement in 2019. Since then, a total of 46 undergraduate students from SCUT have studied or are studying at KU Leuven. With such deep foundation, Tao hoped to establish a broader platform for exchange and expand cooperation areas, including strengthening joint graduate and doctoral training, co-hosting summer schools, and promoting faculty exchanges and research collaboration.
Wim Dewulf expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised the solid foundation in knowledge, strong learning abilities, and high English proficiency of undergraduate students at GZIC. Stating his pleasure to visit SCUT, Wim Dewulf hopes for further enhancement of communication, exchange, and enrichment of collaboration between the two universities.
Information session at GZIC
Following the meeting, the visiting delegation toured the laboratories of Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, School of Microelectronics, and School of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering at GZIC respectively. Wim Polet, Director International Office, conducted an offline and online information session on the joint undergraduate training program. A representative of the first batch of students participating in the program, Lv Shengzhe, shared his overseas studying experiences in KU Leuven online.
