Professor Mackay is the originator and advocateof the “Nutrition-Gut Microbiome- Physiology Axis” theory, and he firstreported the immune regulatory function and mechanism of short-chain fattyacids, the intestinal microbiota metabolites of dietary fiber, providing thefirst evidence that intestinal microbiota metabolites can directly affect humanhealth in NATURE in 2009.
