Ren Jiaoyan, a professor anddoctoral-student supervisor of the School of Food Science and Engineering,South China University of Technology, was inducted into the National High-levelTalent Program of the Ministry of Education in 2020.She was a memberof the 12th China Youth Federation, member of the National ExpertGroup on School Food Safety,Nutrition and Health, arecipient of the Excellent Talents of the New Century Program by the Ministryof Education., a Distinguished Professor of the Pearl RiverScholar in Guangdong Province. She is also a recipient of the GuangdongProvince Outstanding Youth Team Fund, the first batch of Guangdong SpecialSupport Program for Science and Technology Innovation Youth Elite TalentProject, and the Guangdong Province Young Talent Project. Prof Ren has servedas a member of the third council of the Special Food Branch of the ChineseSociety of Food Science and Technology, the director of the InternationalAssociation for Food Nutrition and Safety, executive deputy director andsecretary general of the Youth Working Committee of the Guangdong Food Society.
Her research mainly focuses on foodnutrition and health. So far, she has presided over 3 projects of the NationalNatural Science Foundation of China, National Key R&D Program, the firstbatch of Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation team and 14 otherprojects at the provincial and ministerial level as well as 20 horizontalprojects.
In terms of awards, she has won thesecond prize in Natural Science from the Ministry of Education and the secondprize for Science and Technology from Guangdong Province. Shealso received the Gold Award for invention and entrepreneurship at the 24thNational Invention Exhibition, the Science and Technology Progress Award fromthe Provincial Light Industry Association, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-MacaoHigh-Value Patent Award.
Thus far, she has published 102SCI/EI papers as the first or correspondingauthor in international authoritative journals, with a total of 5362 citationsand cited for 5246 times. Her H-index is 43, and she has published 6 highlycited papers according to ESI. She owns 87 applied patents (3 PCT), among which62 are authorized. Prof Ren has also participated in the formulation of 4national standards and presided over the appraisal of 4 provincial-levelachievements. Currently, she serves as the associate editor of FoodFrontiers, editorial board member of eFood and Journalof Food Research and Development.
