Academic Visit of Dr. Brian Peters from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center

In 2019, during the period from the end of March to the middle of April, Asso. Prof. Brian Peters from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, had visited School of Food Science and Engineering and had a tour with Guangdong Province Key Laboratory for Green Processing of Natural Products and Product Safety.

On the afternoon of April 4th, Dr. Peters presented a public seminar with the topic as < Problems and Challenges of Fungal and Polymicrobial Biofilms > in Dongtang Hall of Building No. 13. The forum was hosted by Dr. Zhenbo Xu. During the presentation, Dr. Peters gave an introduction on the foodborne microbial biofilm and food biohazard. Based on this, Dr. Peters shared his latest research findings and personal insights on the pathogenesis of Candida albicans, multi-microbial interactions, and applications of transcriptomics. After that, Dr. Peters also shared his own experiences of paper writing and submission.

Finally, he gave a detailed answer to the questions raised by the teachers and students, and had an in-depth discussion and communication with teachers and students on the questions of interest after the meeting.

After this tour, the two teams conducted in-depth discussions on propose the intention of cooperation and a joint publication with academic achievements. (by Zerong Lu)
