Academician Tony Bacic and his research team from La Trobe University visited School of Food Science and Engineering

    During April 3 to 4th 2018, Academician Tony Bacic visited School of Food Science and Engineering along with his research team member Research Fellow Monika Doblin, Research Fellow Kim Johnson, and Professor Zeng Wei from Zhejiang A&F University.

    Tony Bacic is the Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences, internationally recognized as a leader in plant biotechnology and his research is focused on the structure, function and biosynthesis of plant cell walls and their biotechnological application as well as the application of functional genomics tools in biological systems.

    Firstly on the afternoon of April 3, an academic report meeting was held in Dongtang Hall. Dean Zeng Xin’an, representatives of school teachers and students, and representatives from Infinitus (China) Co., Ltd. attended the meeting.



     Dean Zeng Xin’an expressed his warm welcome to the team, introduced our school from the aspects of discipline construction, academic team, personnel training, scientific research, international exchange and achievement transformation. Tony Bacic gave an splendid speech on a topic of “La Trobe University in 2050, La Trobe Institute of Ag & Food and Plant Cell Walls in Biotechnology ”, which presented an impressive sketch of La Trobe University and its development. After that, Researcher Monika Doblin, Researcher Kim Johnson, and Professor Zeng Wei individually gave a presentation on their own research.


  

    


    On the morning of April 4th, relevant school leaders and teachers representatives exchanged ideas with the Tony Fellows team on further cooperation.Yao Min, Director of International Division, SCUT, Wu Zhaosheng, Executive Deputy Director, Office of Teaching and Global Affairs, South Campus, SCUT and Zeng Xin’an, Dean of School of Food Science and Engineering attended the meeting.
