Prof. Frédéric Carrière from French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)visited our School fromJaunary13th to 19th, 2019. He gave an impressive presentation on the morning of Jaunary 14th: “Lipases in the gut: from structure-function relationships to the treatment of obesity and pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy” to the staffs and students from our University.

During thereport, Prof. Frédéric Carrièrefirst introduced the development history on lipase research in Marseille, France, and introduced the milestone events in this research field. Next, he shared with us abouthis research on the structure-function relationship of gastric and pancreatic lipases, the relationship between lipid diet characteristics and the concentration/activity of the lipase in human digestive tract, enzyme replacement therapy in patients with exocrine pancreaticinsufficiency and lipase inhibitors for reducing fat absorption in obese patients. At the end of the report, Prof. Frédéric Carrièregave his personal views on the development prospect and future research direction of digestive lipase. After the report, Prof. Frédéric Carrièregave detailed answers to the questions raised by the participating teachers and students and had an in-depth communication with the teachers and students after the report(by Wang Fanghua).
