Objectives

The program aims to cultivate quality specialists who are well-develop morally, intellectually and physically. Students are required to have good character and fine scholarship, rigorous learning spirits and all-round developed; be equipped with solid theoretical foundation, specialized knowledge and experimental skills of Food Science; be well-informed with the technological developing trends of this discipline both at home and abroad; have strong abilities to undertake jobs of independent scientific researches, designs and teaching. Graduates are expected to be competent to engage in teaching, scientific researches, manufacturing and management jobs in the research field.

Cultivation Mode

Advisory system is applied in the program. Students are required to draw up a working plan in the first two weeks after registration and bound to participate in the stage assessment before the end of the third semester according to Master Degree Candidate Medium-Term Screening Method of South China University of Technology and complete social practices. Regular seminar reports are required.

Dissertation

Students should draw up a thesis working plan and prepare thesis proposals between the 11^th and the 20^th weeks in the third semester. Literature Review and Thesis Proposals have to be finished before the end of the third semester. Before applying for the thesis defense, students are required to have published at least two research papers in core academic journals in the field of China’s scientific research papers. On the completion of theses, thesis defense will be arranged according to Rules for the Implementation of Graduation Degrees of South China University of Technology and Regulations of the Applications for Thesis Defense of South China University of Technology. Apart from the above related regulations of degree thesis made by SCUT, the thesis is supposed to meet the school requirements in terms of academic nature, systematicness, innovativeness and engineering application.
