  • Rational design, controlled synthesis and in situ characterization of transition metal-based materials for efficient electrocatalysis and fast energy storage applications

  • Novel electrocatalytic reactions (oxygen reduction/oxygen precipitation, hydrogen precipitation, carbon dioxide reduction, etc.)

  • In-situ spectroscopic studies for efficient electrocatalysis and fast energy storage applications (e.g. XAS and Raman, etc.)

  • Mechanistic analysis combining theoretical calculations with experiments such as in-situ characterization

  • Development of low-Platinum and non-precious metal catalysts for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell water management research, and high-performance single cell and cell stack preparation

  • Development of electrodes and electrolytes for solid acid fuel cells and solid oxide fuel cells/electrolytic cells

  • Electrochemical energy storage materials and devices (lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, air cells, etc.)
