the report of Dr. Zhu Wei
On the morning of May 10th, Forum of outstanding young scholars at home and abroad of SCUT & the 9th sub-forum of the School of Biology and Biological Engineering was successfully held at the University Town Campus. The forum invited Dr. Wang Wei from the University of California and Dr. Zhu Wei from the Joint Laboratory of Sandia National Laboratory/New Mexico State University.
Dr. Wang Wei gave an academic report titled Structural Basis of DNA Lesion Recognition for Eukaryotic Transcription-Coupled Nucleotide Excision Repair, mainly introducing his first two steps in transcriptional coupling repair (TC-NER).
Dr. Zhu Wei's research mainly focuses on the design and construction of supramolecular functional materials and systems, and their applications in biomimetic bio-preservation, drug-targeted transport and sensing. In his report, he introduced the application of novel functional nanomaterials such as nano-silicon materials and metal-organic framework materials at the cell level, and the exploration of new functions.
In the forum, participating teachers and graduate students interacted with reporters on the research directions and issues they were interested in. The atmosphere was very lively.
