The Tourism Management + Computer Science and Technology Dual Bachelor's Degree Composite Talent Training Project is aimed at accelerating the construction of a cultural and tourism power, as well as a digital China.This major cultivates students with interdisciplinary and integrated thinking in the fields of tourism management and computer science and technology, adapting to the needs of the integration of culture and tourism and the development of digital culture and tourism industries. They are able to apply the theories, methods, and technologies of tourism management and computer science and technology to solve practical problems in cultural and tourism project planning, cultural and tourism product design, cultural and tourism scenic area management, cultural and tourism market operation, and cultural and tourism enterprise transformation in the digital age. This major cultivates high-level, international, research-oriented and interdisciplinary innovative talents with family and country feelings, global vision and innovative spirit.
(1) Training objective 1 Moral literacy: Possessing a firm and correct political direction, possessing solid professional skills in tourism management and computer science and technology, complying with industry norms and professional ethics. Be able to understand and accurately evaluate the potential impact of their management and engineering practices on culture, health, safety, environment, and sustainable social development. Having a sense of the rule of law, being able to strictly abide by it in practical work, and ensuring the legality and compliance of behavior.
(2) Training objective 2 Professional competence: Master the basic theoretical knowledge of tourism management and computer science and technology disciplines, possess the ability to operate and manage cultural and tourism enterprises in the digital age, be able to formulate business strategies for cultural and tourism enterprises, have the ability to market new media for cultural and tourism enterprises, and have the ability to develop and plan cultural and tourism resources. Understand the basic architecture of computer hardware and software, be able to perform simple computer system maintenance, proficient in at least one programming language, and able to use programming languages for data processing, program development, and algorithm implementation. Program Profile:
The Tourism Management major at South China University of Technology belongs to the first level discipline of Business Administration and the second level discipline of Tourism Management. It began enrollment in 2004 and relies on the Double First Class educational background of South China University of Technology to strengthen the cultivation of academic and mathematical tools and practical abilities. It fully leverages the interdisciplinary advantages of the school's new engineering and new humanities. Currently, a complete talent training system of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees has been formed, and in 2020, it became one of the first national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. This major adheres to the combination of broad caliber and specialization, cultivating compound and high-quality talents for new formats in the cultural and tourism industry. The professional focuses on the modularization of curriculum design, the systematization of practical teaching, and the three in one comprehensive reform of cooperative education internationalization. A comprehensive tourism management professional course platform based on economics and management, with core courses featuring theory as the foundation, application as the focus, mutual promotion of learning, and internal and external integration. It combines characteristic courses such as freshman seminars, special seminars, cutting-edge courses, shared courses for undergraduate and graduate students, integrated competitive education courses, and entrepreneurship education courses to build a dual wing integrated curriculum system. At present, the tourism management major has passed the UNWTO TedQual certification for tourism education quality by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. The major focuses on the organic integration of theory and practice, and focuses on teaching practice to provide students with internship and research opportunities in first-class organizations in the field of cultural tourism at home and abroad. The computer science and technology major of South China University of Technology is a national characteristic major, the first batch of famous brand majors in Guangdong Province, a key major in Guangdong Province and a characteristic major in Guangdong Province. South China University of Technology began computer science research in 1958 and successfully developed the first analog electronic computer in South China and the first Russian-Chinese translator in China.
