On December 7, the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of SPA cum the Foundation Ceremony of the School Alumni Association was held in the beautiful and classified NO.5 Building at SCUT.

Ms. LIU Qijin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SCUT Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of SCUT; Mr. XIA Shuzhang, Honorary Dean of the School of Political and Public Affairs Management of Sun Yat-sen University; together with more than 300 experts, scholars, alumni, teachers and students from all over the country were invited to attend the event.

In the welcome remarks, Ms. LIU Qijin introduced the basic situation of SCUT and the achievements made in the discipline of humanities and social sciences. She encouraged the Alumni Association of School of Public Administration to play an active role in the alumni work, linking the communication and cooperation between the school, university and alumni. She also expected that all the teachers, students and alumni of SPA remain true to their original aspiration, forge ahead and make further greater achievements in the future.

After the speech, Ms. LIU Qijin awarded the 101-year-old Mr. XIA Shuzhang, the "father of MPA in China", with an appointment letter of Honorary Consultant for School of Public Administration of SCUT.

Mr. XIA Shuzhang congratulated on SPA’s 10th anniversary. He said that the public management discipline is of great significance to realize the prosperity of the country, and he hoped that all the academic fellows will work together to promote the further development of the discipline.

At the foundation ceremony of the School Alumni Association, Ms. LIU Qijin also presented the School Alumni Association with a plaque and flag, and awarded the Alumni Council consultants and president with the appointment certificates.
