Abstract:
The inter-connectedness of world trade means that the UK economy is dependent upon supply lines that stretch back to China. So the UK has a direct interest in the level of resilience in China to natural hazards. Focusing on resilience, recovery and reconstruction will open up the potential for further UK-China collaboration in the economic sphere. This report introduces the Increasing Resilience to Natural Hazards in Earthquake Prone Regions in China (IRNHiC) programme, and discusses its impacts.
