Postgraduate from SPA attends International Symposium on Internationalization and Quality Management in Higher Education

School of Public Administration of South China University of Technology co-hosted the international symposium on “Internationalization and Quality Management in Higher Education” with Lingnan University , with the collaboration with Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERP), and School of Education of Guangzhou University on 26 February 2019.

Yang Xin, a postgraduate student majored in Public Administration from the 2017 cohort, was invited to attend the symposium, and reported her paper entitled “No Time Freedom: A Research of Academic Time and Academic Pressure of Postgraduates”. Her paper intends to find out postgraduates' specific performance in academic time and pressure, and to explore their interrelationship. According to her research, it is suggested that the school should enrich and innovate the graduation training program, set up an appointment mechanism for graduate students' time, and use mental mindfulness therapy to mediate students’ pressure.

The symposium has invited distinguished scholars from the Japan, Malaysia, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to discuss how tertiary institutions from different regions in Asia Pacific region responded to the internationalization and its challenges to quality management in higher education. Several themes were highlighted in the Symposium, namely, Managing Student Learning, Internationalization and Research Development, International Higher Education and Graduate Employment, Critical Reflections of Higher Education Development in Asia, and Internationalization of Higher Education and Knowledge Transfer.
