On March 23, Prof. WU Xun, Director of the Institute for Public Policy at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, paid a visit to School of Public Administration, South China University of Technology (SPA-SCUT). He was invited to give a lecture themed "systematic analysis of empirical research on the policy of China's essential drug system" during his visit.
Prof. WU Xun began his speech with introducing the general situation of China's essential drug system, and then elaborated the benefits and problems in the process of the execution of drug policy. By eliciting the question "how do we know whether the essential drug system is effective?", he further introduced the related empirical studies and the research methods employed by researchers. At the end of his speech, he concluded that empirical research is no match for high-level research.

In the second part of the lecture, Prof. WU Xun also introduced the master program of public policy at HKUST, including curriculum structure, application procedures, tuition fees, scholarships and other enrollment information, hoping to offer alternative opportunity for students to further their education in the field of public policy. At the Q&A section, Prof. WU Xun responded in detail about the questions raised by students in relation to the master's course.
