SCUT Supply Chain Management and Application Software Lab

Time:2015-07-25

SCUT Supply Chain Management and Application Software Lab is located in the B8 building on the southern campus of SCUT, engaging in developing and education of application software, orienting logistics technology and supply chain management. Currently there are 6 teachers (all doctors), among whom there are 5 professors and 3 doctoral supervisors. The number of Ph.D. and master graduates working in the laboratory every year is more than 50.

The team would set up a laboratory of modern logistics information technology and take over tasks of discipline construction and scientific research. Cooperating with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Research and Development Centre of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Nansha Economic Technical Development Area, Nansha Information Technology Park, Guangzhou Academic City and Tianhe Software Centre, it will build up a logistics researching centre with international standards, bring it in line with international practice, lead the development, take over higher-level subject study and projects of enterprise application.

Every year more than 20 undergraduates majoring in software engineering and computer science and technology enter the laboratory as interns and join in the algorithm designing and researching and application software developing. Most of them are full or retired members of ACM-ICPC. Averagely, 50% of them are recommended for admission to elite schools or research institutes at home and abroad to study for a master’s degree or a doctor's degree, such as National University of Singapore, City University of Hong Kong, Institute of Computer of ChineseAcademy of Sciences and Institute of Automation ofChineseAcademy of Sciences, etc. Most of the other 50% enter famous IT enterprises after graduation.

In recent years, the laboratory has taken over 26 projects of fundamental researches and plans of science and technology in China, GuangdongProvince, HKSAR, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It has obtained 4 scientific research patents awarded by American and German patent offices; 1 national prize in education; 2 provincial prizes in science; the bronze medal in the final in global, 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals in the semifinal in Asia and 2 champions of Guangdong of the international match of programming of university students.
