Speaker Bio: Dr. Ningxu Ma is currently a Professor at Osaka University and Director of the East Asian Exchange Center, International Affairs Division, Osaka University.

Abstract：Firstly, the University of Osaka and its international exchanges for students and academias will be introduced. Then, both the explicit and implicit finite element methods for thermal mechanics are presented. Finally, their applications to welding/joining and additive manufacturing induced thermal/residual stress/strain in various joints/components as well as their strength are demonstrated using examples validated by experiments.
