time: 2025-12-08

Recently, Professor Stefan Böhm, a renowned international expert in Additive Manufacturing and Director of the Institute of Manufacturing Science and Technology (Cutting and Joining Processes) at the University of Kassel, Germany, visited our school.

He delivered a cutting-edge academic lecture titled Challenges and Prospects in Additive Manufacturing: Wire Arc Directed Energy Deposition (DED-Arc). The seminar was chaired by Professor Shi Yonghua.

Leveraging his profound theoretical foundation and extensive industrial experience, Professor Böhm systematically elaborated on the advanced technical framework of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). Starting from the fundamental principles of arc welding, he progressed to the core technical aspects of WAAM. His presentation comprehensively covered the process principles, system architecture, material systems, quality control, and industrial applications. This provided the faculty and students in attendance with a clear roadmap of the technology's development.
