
Qu Jinping, born in Huangmei county, Hubei province in June1957, was one of the first batch of students after the resumption of college entrance examination in 1977.Qu received his Bachelor's degree in plastics machinery and MSc degree in light industrial machinery from the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou in 1981 and 1987. He obtained his PhD in Polymer Materials form the Sichuan University in Chengdu in May 1999.Qu became a faculty as an lecturer of polymer processing machinery in 1982 .He was promoted to associate 1987 and further the Professor of Polymer Processing Engineer in 1993all at at the South China University of Technology.From1998 to 2002, Qu was appointed Dean of College of Industrial Equipment and Control Engineering in 1994, From 1997-2007, He was the Vce-President of South China University of Technology. Qu has been awarded the Distinguished Young Scholars by National Nature Science Fundation in 1996,the Distinguished Professor from Changjiang Scholars Program of China by Ministry of Education in 1998and the National Labor Model by The State Council in1995.Qu is the director of National Engineering Research Center of Novel Equipment for Polymer Processing and the Key Laboratory of Polymer Processing Engineering of Ministry of Education in South China University of Technology, the Vice Chairman of National Engineering Laboratory for Plastic Modification and Processing, Vice-Chairman of China Light Industry Machinery Association, Vice-Chairman of Guangdong Science and Technology Association and Chairman of society of mechanical engineering of Guangdong. In 2011, he was elected to be member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Professor Jin-ping Qu has been engaged in the scientific research in the field of polymer material molding. He first put forward the invention of polymer dynamic plasticizing processing methods and technology in the world-wide, which set a new era in the theory of polymer dynamic plasticizing and molding research. Extrusion, injection, reaction processing equipment and also rheometer based on this dynamic plasticizing convey theory were developed and realized the industrialization of this technology. He first proposed the polymer plasticizing and convey dominated by extensional rheology .Accordingly, equipment based on the new technology was developed and came into industrialization.He issued more than 40 Chinese invention patents, 3 international invention patents and distributed more than 20 products. Most of the achievements are in a leading position in the world-wide polymer processing. He has been awarded several prizes for scientific and technology progress, including: two Second Class Prizes of National technology invention award; one Second Class Prizes of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, one Chinese patent invention prize award, one patent gold medals. And also he has been awarded several Provincial Science and Technology Awards, including, one special award, three first class Prizes and two Second Class Prizes. More than 200 hundred articles were published and indexed by SCI or EI. He published 5 books, including one translation and one treatise.
As a teacher imparting knowledge and educating people, Qu Jinping practices rigorous scholarship and upright style of study, and continues climbing and innovation on the way to science. In 1992, Qu Jinping obtained special government allowances granted by the People's Republic of China; in 1994, he was named as Guangdong Province advanced worker; in 1995 he was named as the national advanced worker; in 1995, he was selected into the cross-century talent program of State Education Commission; in 1996, he was awarded Guangdong Province Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert by the Guangdong Provincial Committee; in 1996, he won the Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Young Scientist Award; in 1997, he was selected in Guangdong Province Thousand-Hundred-Ten talent project (national level training object); in 1997, he won the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award for outstanding young scientists; in 1997, he won the title of national middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions; in 1997, he was elected as 15th NPC representative of the Communist Party of China; in 1999, he was named Nanyue outstanding teacher in Guangdong Province; in 2001, he won the prize of outstanding contributions to Ninth Five-Year national key scientific and technological research granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the State Development Planning Commission, the State Planning Commission, the State Planning Commission, and the State Economic and Trade Commission, Advanced Individual Grand Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Higher School Thousand-Hundred-Ten Talent Program; in 2004, he won the title of outstanding patent inventor of Guangdong Province; in 2008 he won the best inventor award of the Sixth International Invention Exhibition; in 2011 he was named the top ten news figures in Guangdong; in 2012 he won the title of Guangdong Pioneer outstanding communist in Guangdong Province;in 2014 he won the title of inventor of Guangdong Province.
