Prof. Li is President of South China University of Technology. Dr. Yuanyuan Li is listed in the Guangdong Provincial “Thousand, Hundred, Ten Project” that train outstanding personnel and he is in the national level category. He received funding from The National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. He was winner of Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth. He was elected to the 9th National People’s Congress. He is Commissioner of The Chinese Association for Science and Technology (6th), member of The Subject Review Team of The National Natural Science Foundation Commission (8th), Commissioner of Subject Committee of the Science and Technology Commission (4th) of The Education Ministry, Commissioner of The Subject Development and Specialty establishment Specialist Committee of The Education Ministry. He is a member of The Standing Committee of The Materials Science Institute of The Chinese Society for Metals, Associate Commission Director of The Foundry Institution and Powder Metallurgy Institute of The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Failure Analysis Specialist of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, member of The Standing Committee of The Guangdong Science and Technology Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Foundry Institution of Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society, Outstanding Middle-aged and Young Specialist of Guangdong, Top Ten Outstanding Youth of Guangdong in 1996. He also is Editor Member of “Trans Nonferrous Met. Soc. China”, Asso. Director of Editor Board of “Foundry”, “China Foundry”, “Special Casting & Nonferrous Alloys” and “Sci. and Tech. of Powder Metallurgy”.
He teaches courses in Materials Processing Engineering, Machine Manufacturing and Automation. He is working on the industrialization of the new technologies. His research interest includes: preparation and forming of high performance non-ferrous alloys, preparation and precision forming of high performance powder metallurgy materials (including composite materials), machining technology of the hard to machine materials, numerical modeling and dynamic simulation of the forming process of novel metallic materials, warm compaction powder metallurgy technology and its equipment etc. He was and still in charged of many research projects including 15 different research projects at the National level, which includes key and general research projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation and also in projects from National“95”Key Science and Technology Funding, National“863”Project etc. He is also in charged of 24 different research projects at the ministry and provincial level. The projects he was in charged and finished received various scientific and technological awards at the ministry and provincial level including 4 First Prize Awards. He received a First Prize Award in teaching at national level. He holds 17 National Patents. He published more than 200 papers, 59 papers were cited by SCI, 68 papers were cited by EI and they were cited 113 times in the literatures.
