报告摘要:The present popularity of everything that involves ‘nano’ has contributed to the rapid increase of research on the luminescence of nanocrystalline semiconductor particles. The quantum size effects that occur in nanocrystalline semiconductors (also called quantum dots, QDs) are responsible for a change in the electronic structure in the nanocrystals as a function of particle size. This results in fascinating size dependent optical and electrical properties that also offer possibilities for applications in the fields of chemistry, physics and biology.
In this presentation a historical introduction to the discovery of quantum size effects. Next, the challenge of doping QDs with luminescent ions (lanthanides and transition metals) will be covered. Doped QDs combine the strong and tuneable absorption of the QD host with the efficient and characteristic emission of dopant ions.1 Both doping of CdSe and the emerging class of perovskite (CsPbCl3) QDs will be covered.1,2,3 Perovskite QDs continue to attract attention and show unexpected optical properties. It will be shown how doping perovskite QDs has helped in providing new insight in the inversion (or not) of the dark-bright state splitting.4 Finally, existing and potential applications of luminescent QDs in bio-imaging, solar cells and white light LEDs will be discussed in relation with challenges as thermal quenching and thermal stability.3, 5

个人简介:Andries Meijerink为荷兰乌得勒支大学(Utrecht University)教授,是荷兰皇家科学院院士,现任国际发光会议(ICL)主席。1990年在乌得勒支大学获得博士学位,随后在美国University of Wisconsin从事博士后研究。1991年回到乌得勒支大学任职至今。他在稀土发光材料和光谱学领域做出了突出的贡献。目前主要研究领域为镧系元素化合物的真空紫外光谱、量子剪裁效应以及半导体材料量子点的光学性质,迄今为止,先后在包括Science、Physical Review Letter、Advanced Materials、Angewandte Chemie-International Edition等国际重要学术刊物上发表相关研究论文300多篇,H-index为62。
