报告摘要:Colloidal plasmonic nanocrystals exhibit very attractive optical properties. They have proven to be of enormous potential in a wide range of applications. To fully realize their technological potential and further explore their fundamental plasmonic properties relies on the ready availability of high-quality, high-performance nanocrystal products at different amount scales. We have made tremendous efforts over the past decade on the development of synthetic methods for colloidal metal nanocrystals. We have been able to synthesize several types of highly uniform colloidal Au and Ag nanocrystals, investigated their plasmonic properties, and explored a variety of plasmon-enabled applications. In this presentation, I will first describe how we make colloidal plasmonic nanocrystals. I will then talk about active plasmon switching. Finally I will mention two most recent developments in our group, namely, magnetic plasmon resonance and high-refractive-index dielectric nanostructures, in the field of nanoplasmonics.

 

报告人简介:Prof. Jianfang Wang obtained BS degree (inorganic chemistry and software design) from University of Science and Technology of China in 1993, MS degree (inorganic chemistry) from Peking University in 1996, and PhD degree (physical chemistry) from Harvard University in 2002. He did postdoctoral study in University of California, Santa Barbara from February 2002 to July 2005. He joined in Department of Physics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong as an assistant professor in 2005 and became an associate professor in 2011 and a full professor in 2015. He is currently the associate editor of Nanoscale. His current research interests focus on metal nanocrystals for nanoplasmonics and nanophotonics, and metal oxide nanostructures for photocatalysis. He has published more than 160 papers, with a total citations of ~17,560 (Google Scholar: ~22800) and an h-index of 58 (Google Scholar: 63).
