Nicolas Mercier is a professor of University of Angers, France. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Le Mans (1994) under the supervision of Prof M. Leblanc in Prof G. Ferey’s group. From 1991 to 1995, his research interests were synthesis and crystallography of fluorocarbonate salts. In 1996, he moved to the University of Angers to be Maître de Conference, and became a Professor there (2006) in the CIMA laboratory of Dr P. Batail. He is currently Head of Organic-Inorganic materials in CIMA and his research focuses on the specific family of hybrid perovskites. Several directions have been explored: Semiconducting hybrid perovskites, NLO switchable compounds, Ferroelectric hybrids, Photochromic compounds. More recently, we aimed to prepare Porous Coordination Polymers (PCPs) incorporating the viologen redox unit for sensor applications, and luminescent and MCL molecular materials based on bipyridine-N-oxyde derivatives.
