报告题目:Synthesis and Nano-Structuring Conjugated Polymers for Optoelectronic Devices

摘要:In this presentation, I will be describing our recent progress in the design, preparation and nano-structuring conjugated polymers for optoelectronic applications, especially organic photovoltaics. At first, a strategy to precisely control bulk heterojunction (BHJ) morphology by constructing core-shell type composite nanofibers (NFs) through cooperation of orthogonal non-covalent interactions. These NFs not only leads to better performing and more stable OPV devices but also displays morphological controllability at both macroscopic and microscopic levels. Secondly, the first solution-phase synthesis of polydiacetylene (PDA) will be reported. PDAs are an important class of conjugated polymers that are exclusively applied in sensors but have been only obtainable through solid-state topochemical reactions. Our method utilizes alkyne metathesis and is able to install aromatic groups directly attached to the PDA main-chain, providing tunability in physical and electronic properties that is difficult to achieve through previously established methods.
 
报告人简介:Yang was born and grew up in Sichuan province, China. He obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry from Peking University and Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University, NJ, where he spent most of his time on organic/inorganic hybrid polymer materials. After two postdoctoral appointments at University of Minnesota and Brookhaven National Laboratory, working in the areas of organic electronic devices, Dr. Qin joined the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at University of New Mexico as an assistant professor in 2010.His research mainly focuses on design and synthesis of conjugated polymers for optoelectronic applications. He has coauthored over thirty publications and recently received the National Science Foundation Early Career Award.
