题目:Design and Synthesis of Functional Supramolecular and Macromolecular Nano-Architectures

报告摘要:


Investigation on -electronic molecules has been one of the important subjects in organic electronics and optoelectronics. It is widely accepted that the performance is largely depending on the morphology and ordering of the active layers in such devices. In this presentation, I will focus on my recent work using supramolecular and macromolecular approaches to construct ordered functional nano-architectures. 
As in the case of supramolecualr assembly, a general strategy for the integration of metal species to -electronic compounds via conjugation will be introduced,[1] followed by self-assembly studies of large “sulfur-doped” discotic moleculesand large rylene based chromophores, hexarylenediimide (HDI) and octarylenediimide (ODI).[2] When using stronger interaction (e.g. covalent bonding) rather than the weak non-covalent interaction like - stacking, hydrogen bonding, and Van der Waals force etc, more stable architectures could be obtained. Regarding the macromolecular approaches, we topologically designed the structures and geometry of novel -electronic monomers and succeeded in the synthesis of 2D -electronic macromolecules and frameworks which exhibited highly crystalline structure and various functions.[3] On the other hand, we synthesized several robust 3D porous conjugated polymers by facile Suzuki poly-condensation reaction. Their application in light harvesting,[4] catalysis,[5] and solid-state emitter [6] were well explored.
In the last part of my talk, I will present our ongoing project of surface-directed synthesis of well-defined graphene nanoribbons[7] and 2D conjugated porous polymer network using STM techniques.[8]

Biography
Long Chen received his PhD in 2009 under the supervision of Prof. Donglin Jiang at the Institute for Molecular Science (IMS, Japan). He then joined Prof. Klaus Müllen’s group at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP, Germany) as an Alexander von Humboldt research fellow. In March 2012, he was appointed a project leader in the same group. Since September 2014, he is a principle investigator at the Department of Chemistry, College of Science of Tianjin University. His current research focuses on the synthesis and self-organization of functional -conjugated molecules, conjugated porous polymers for catalysis and energy conversion.
