报告摘要:
    Organic light emitting diode (OLED) and organic photovoltaics (OPV) are the two most advanced devices in the field of organic electronics.  OLED, because of its many intrinsic performance advantages, is emerging as a viable alternative to the liquid crystal display (LCD) and poised to become the next-generation display technology.  OPV is being actively developed as a low-cost alternative to conventional solar cells based on silicon and other inorganic semiconductors.  Recent advances in achieving power conversion efficiencies greater than 10% in OPV devices have significantly boosted their prospects for practical applications. Both OLED and OPV are based on the heterojunction device structure discovered some 25 years ago, but the development paths leading to their prospective applications are distinctly different.  In this talk the evolution of OLED and OPV as potentially disruptive technologies and the lessons learned from discoveries to commercialization will be described along with their future prospects and challenges.

报告人简介:
    邓青云博士,美国工程院院士,2011年沃尔夫奖(化学奖)获得者,华南理工大学名誉教授。于1975年于康奈尔大学获得博士学位,随后进入柯达公司研究部,长期从事有机电子学器件领域的研究,2006年从柯达公司退休,被聘为罗切斯特大学Doris Johns Cherry教授。邓青云教授是当今国际上蓬勃发展的有机发光显示及有机白光照明器件技术的奠基人。他于1987提出采用给受体异质结结构作为发光器件活性层,在柯达公司率先实现了高效、低工作电压、结构简单的有机电致发光器件(OLED)。他早在1986年(在发现OLED之前)提出了双层异质结有机太阳电池的重要新概念,被公认是OLED和有机异质结太阳电池的开创者。邓青云博士在有机发光、太阳电池、静电照相等方面已获得86项授权美国发明专利,发表100余篇论文,他引至今超过16000余次。
