附主讲人简介:
       Prof. R. V. Ramanujan, Fellow, American Society for Materials, is at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, NTU. He earned his undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees from IIT-Bombay and Carnegie Mellon University (USA), respectively.  He is Chair of the Magnetic Materials Committee of TMS (USA) and serves on the IEEE Technical Committee (USA), Phase Transformations Committee of TMS (USA) and Awards Committee of TMS (USA). Ramanujan serves as Editor/Editorial Board member of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions, Materials Science and Engineering B, Materials Science and Engineering C and Nanomedicine. He has received the Nanyang Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of North Texas, South China University of Technology, and the Center for Advanced Scientific Research (India).

课程介绍: 
Lecture 1:  Applications of magnetic nanomaterials in biology and medicine
This topic includes a brief overview of the use of magnetic nanoparticles materials in biology and its uses in medicine for drug delivery, imaging etc. Specifically, the application of core-shell magnetic nanoparticles in cancer treatment will be highlighted.

Lecture 2: Magnetic materials for energy applications
Magnetic materials can contribute to saving electric power and reducing CO2 emissions in multiple ways. The advantages of higher energy efficiency through the use of the “green”, environmentally benign magnetic cooling technology is used as an example of state of the art magnetic materials for energy applications

Lecture 3:  Magnetic materials for transducer applications
We will discuss the use of magnet-polymer composites for transducer applications. Specifically, the use of such materials for artificial muscles, structural health monitoring and adaptive optics will be discussed.
