Haeshin Lee earned a Bachelor degree in Bilogical Sciences at Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineeringat the Northwestern University in 2008. Following the completion of his PhD, he undertook a post-doctoral research position working at MIT. Dr. Lee currently working at KAIST as an Associate Professor. Dr Lee’s research focuses on biomimetics which is the application of systems found in nature to the study and design of engineered systems, including: Generalized strategy for functionalization of any material surfaces inspired by mussel adhesion, Adhesive anti-bacterial, anti-fungal compounds, Nanoparticle synthesis,Protein therapeutics, Development of synthetic gecko adhesives, and Biointerphases. He has published more than 130 papers, including Nature, Science, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., Adv. Func. Mater.
