Abstract:

Given a closed oriented hyperbolic surface S, we consider quasi-Fuchsian manifolds which are homeomorphic to S\times\mathbb{R}. The components of the boundary at infinity of these manifolds carry two holomorphic quadratic differentials defined by the Schwarzian derivatives. The horizontal measured foliations of these differentials are called the measured foliations at infinity. The goal of the talk will be to show that any pair of filling measured foliations with small transverse measure can be realised as the measured foliation at infinity of a quasi-Fuchsian manifold sufficiently close to the Fuchsian locus. We will also show unique realisation when the pair of measured foliations are only 3 pronged. A part of this talk is based on a joint work with V. Markovic.
