Title:Screen Content Image Quality Assessment: Database and Methodology

Abstract：

  In recent years, the screen content images (SCIs) havereceived more and more attentions, since they are widelydeployed in various multimedia applications and services, such as remote screen sharing, cloud gaming, online news andeducation, electronic brochures, and so on. Considering that the SCIscontain new characteristics and are inevitably suffered from various distortions during the acquisition, storage, coding, transmission and display stages,how to accurately assess the SCI qualityin accordance with the humanvisual system becomes an emerging research topics. In this talk, I will present our research works regarding IQA for SCIs, including the screen content image database (i.e., SCID), and two methods (i.e., ESIM and GFM).

Biography:

  Prof. Zeng received the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in electrical engineering. He is currently a Full Professor at the School of Information Science and Engineering,Huaqiao University,Xiamen,China.He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Electronic Engineering,The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. His research interests are in theareas of image processing and video coding, machine learning and pattern recognition, and computer vision.He has published more than 80 papers in well-known internationaljournals (e.g., IEEE TIP, T-CSVT) and conferences (e.g., ICIP, ISCAS).He has been actively serving as the Associate Editor for international journal, IET Electronics Letters, International Journal of Image and Graphics, Guest Editor for multiple international journals, including JVCIR, MTAP, etc. He has also been actively serving as the General Co-Chair for IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems 2017 (ISPACS2017), the Technical Program Co-Chair for Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference 2017 (APSIPA ASC2017), the Area Chair for IEEE International Conference on Visual Communications and Image Processing (VCIP2015), the Technical Program Committee Member for multiple flagship international conferences (e.g., ICIP, ISCAS, VCIP). He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
